The title track for the new solo album came out of the ether this week...recording should start tomorrow, if all goes according to plan...lots of ideas to sift through, and a few songs have started to come together.
Shows for both EM and LR have been great this month! Had a great surprise when a dear dear friend come down for a weekend to see both bands, and that was super awesome for me!
Then I got a text Tuesday night... Louie Echevarria, long time drummer for Limerock, my rhythm section partner, passed away suddenly while visiting family in New Orleans. I'd been friends with Louie before I was in Limerock, and he was always a funny laid back guy that you almost instantly wanted to hang around with. When I would be a fill in guy with the band, he was always super helpful with making sure I knew where certain cues were going on in the songs, and always made me comfortable with the band. Once I joined up full time, he was super helpful and we ended up becoming a super tight rhythm section in a matter of just a few shows. He was always looking for ways to make the show feel like a "concert," and would also look for ways to make the show even more fun for the audience. If you've ever come to a LR show and ended up with beads, that was Louie's idea! He was a huge part of Limerock, and he'll be missed terribly. There will be a Celebration Of Life called "Louiepalozza" that will take place May 5 at Pipers, so if you can please come out and show some love for Louie.
As far as Limerock's plans, we are cancelling our show today at Gilbert's (my friends in Retro Sky are playing in our place), and I believe our next show at Glades Club is also off. The band will continue, as we know that's what Louie would want, but as of right now we have no other news at this point.
Cheers Louie my brother, see you on the other side...
That is all...TB
