That is all...TB
In case you didn't hear, the acoustic show I was supposed to play last night ended up getting cancelled due to the Heat game. As far as I know, my show at Irish Sports Tavern for May 20 is still on, so if you went there last night and didn't see me, A; that's why, and B: I'll make it up to ya on the 20th!

Long time no type, eh? I think I have updates on just about all fronts this time!
DIRK DIGGLER: The St. Pattys Day show was a wild one, and everyone had a great time. The new covers that we added to the show are working out great I have to say. We just played there again on May 1, and it was a good show as well, even with "gremlins" creeping into some of our gear! Our next scheduled show is June 16 at Cafe 27. People have asked me when we are going to do shows at places other than Cafe 27, and we are working on getting some shows at different places, and I can announce that we will be FINALLY making our return to the scene of our very first DD show, Little Hoolies on August 6! It's been a little over 2 years since we played there, and we're hoping that it will also become a regular thing there. I'm pretty sure we're gonna advertise the holy crap out of that show so that we can pack the place. We're also continuing to add new covers as well. This new batch of songs that we're starting to work on should be epic if we get them right... TRIAD: Triad returns to the road on June 4 with a show at Cafe 27. We've been on a bit of a break while Scott's been getting his amplifier setup tweaked, and Mario's been busy playing with 3RG, but it looks like we're back baby! I think we may try to get some new songs into the set, but we won't know for sure till we get into rehearsals, which should be in the next couple weeks. Hopefully I'll have some more shows to announce here in the coming weeks. SOLO SHOWS: I went over to the Irish Sports Tavern last night to celebrate my old Stone Monkey/Mr. Sinister bandmate Wes's birthday, as he was doing an acoustic show there and asked people to come out and jam with him. I ended up sitting in with him and his singer from Hundred Pound Test, and then he told me to start off the third set with some of my stuff! Next thing I know, he and I are talking with the management there, and lo and behold, I'm playing acoustic solo shows there on the next 2 Fridays! I can't wait to do these shows! I'll be doing a mix of covers and my own songs, so it should be a really fun time. I'm also challenging myself to come up with at least 2 BRAND NEW originals for the shows as well. Just to give myself a little pressure to come up with some good stuff for these shows! WRITING AND RECORDING: In the last few weeks, I've put up 3 new instrumental songs on my www.reverbnation.com/timbirkett page. One of them was an electronic song, the second one was a cool little tribute to Prince (RIP), and the most recent one I put up is really neat, it's the first orchestral piece I've written in probably 20 years, since I was in college. It was literally an experiment to get used to writing for a large group again. I'm probably going to do another couple smaller-ish pieces like it, as I'm starting to prepare to work on a full on symphony. I did some sketches of a couple movements a few years ago, and I'm finally to the point where I think I can pull off what I hear in my head. I'm probably going to put a "symphony journal" on here to keep track of the progress, so keep an eye out for a new section here! I'm also starting to record a new batch of songs (solo album #16? or something like that!), now that I'm getting the hang of the new recording software and studio setup. Keep an eye out here for new things popping up! That is all...TB |
