Reckless Kind has a TON of shows coming up in the next 2 months, and the band has been sounding really good I have to say. Only thing now is we're going to have to find some time to get some new songs into the mix just to spice things up. Our show at Sandbar last week went really well, even with a friggin monsoon hitting right before we went on! Great crowd, and great energy. Our next show literally just came up yesterday, as we're going to be playing at Glades Club tomorrow Oct. 1. The Upcoming Gigs section here has all my upcoming dates, and I have at least 13 performances coming up in the next 2 months! A bunch of Reckless Kind gigs, an Electric Mayhem gig, the next 3 performances for Deb Desilets (more on those in a second), a pair of acoustic duo shows with Daisy of Electric Mayhem, and I'm waiting on a date for a special acoustic show possibly in November. GOOD TIMES!
The first performance for Deb Desilets' lecture series went really well. The performances are at the Art Deco Museum on Miami Beach, and the actual lecture on the first night was really interesting. The second performance is on October 8, and I'm still working on the electronic soundscapes as I'm typing! My plan now is to have them all finished and sequenced by Sunday so that I can put together the sax parts on Monday and Tuesday. As is sometimes the case with me, it's taking a little longer than I anticipated to get the electric portions together. Well, no better inspiration than a freaking deadline I say...
When Electric Mayhem plays this month it will be with a new guitarist. Scott (also in RK) has decided to leave EM, but will be still playing with Reckless Kind. Bummed to see him leave this project, but I'm still jamming with him so all's good. Electric Mayhem is already starting to look for a new player, and I think Daisy already has someone lined up to play our upcoming show. Who knows, maybe he'll end up being the new guy. Even though a lot of what EM does isn't the "usual" stuff I play, I have to say I'm still having fun with this band and I hope Daisy can keep it going.
Well, that's pretty much what's been going on around here at the moment. Once I have the soundscapes for the Deb performances done, I'm going to refocus on finishing the editing on the "Electric Symphony" piece I completed a few months back. My goal is to have that piece online before Thanksgiving. In addition to that, I'll be spending November and December doing some writing for the Incognito reunion, and another Illinois project with my friends Pat and Karl. Pat and I had worked with Karl back in the 90s on an album project with the name Caesar's Ghost, and we've been talking about doing another one at some point. Well we finally decided to start demoing some potential songs a few months ago. There are some interesting things already floating between us, so it will be fun to see where that leads.
