I'm still buzzing from the last weekend's worth of shows...Let me start from the beginning...
Thursday (8/22), Dirk Diggler made our debut at Road Dawgs in Davie. For me is was a cool kind of "homecoming," in that Road Dawgs used to be known as the Texas Rose Saloon, where Southern Drawl/Swamp Drive played a ton of shows years ago. Other than slipping and falling down coming off the front of the stage during load in, the show was a lot of fun! I have a good feeling that we'll be playing there again soon...
Friday we had a great show at Little Hoolies. Jaime wasn't able to make it, and Jose from Hangar 5 sat in with us, and he did a fantastic job on just a few days notice and one rehearsal!
Then there was Saturday...As you may have heard, Café 27, our "home away from home," closed. Not sure if it's going to reopen or not, but a "farewell party" was put together to party with everyone from there one last time. The show was booked for the Sport Of Kings Theater at Gulfstream Park, with Krazy Train, Southern Blood, Mr. NIce Guy, Dirk Diggler, Hangar 5, and Soulicide playing. I had never been there, so I didn't know what to expect...I walk in, and there are literally thousands of people (I heard around 2k) there! We went on around 10pm, and the place was still packed, and we had a "Top 10" DD show, one I won't forget for a long time!! Hopefully we can do something like that again!
The next DD show is going to be a bit of a "milestone" show, as it will be the band's 100th show! It's going to be at Little Hoolies (where we had show #1!) on September 21. Not sure if we're going to do anything "Special" for the occasion or not, but I'll let you know as soon as I know anything...
On the "Solo" front, I put 3 new songs out on my www.reverbnation.com/timbirkett page last week. They are kind of companion pieces to the "album" project I'm currently working on, and hope to finish up before the end of the year. I guess you can call the project a "sonic autobiography" of sorts, at least a concept album. I've been working out the final arrangements of the songs, and things are potentially going to sound really cool if I can get my hands to match what I hear in my head! As far as acoustic shows, I'm not sure when my next one is gonna happen, with Café 27 closed at the moment. I have to make some time to go and get bookings at a few other places, so stay tuned for info there soon hopefully...
For now...
THAT IS ALL...TB
