Just as soon as I mention that there's a new Eli Cash show, I find out that it has been cancelled...A new date should be forthcoming in the next week or so...Sorry about that... TB

So, I thought that October might be a slow month for gigs other than the open mic nights, but I found out Thursday night (at Hoolies of course) that Eli Cash will be returning to Little Hoolies Saturday October 5. I figured we'd have a show or two come up, and apparently I was right! I haven't heard anything about any new Dirk Diggler shows yet, but I'm pretty sure that something will come up here very soon. In the meantime, I will try to use the down time to get back into working in my little studio. LIke I mentioned last time, I ended up finding a ton of song ideas that were fairly well developed in the voice memos on my phone, so it's not like I have been struggling with writer's block or anything! Things are pretty smooth at the "day job," so I will start to have some time to get back working on stuff now. Other than that, it's been a pretty quies Even though I usually consider the beginning of fall when school starts, yesterday was the "official" end of summer. Was a good day overall I have to say. I had a workshop for school at Florida International University in the morning that was pretty cool, and then Eli Cash played down at Black Point last night. Was another great show, and I have to say it was one of the better shows we've done lately, and that's really saying something as the Eli Cash shows have been really good the last few shows! As of right now, Eli Cash has the month of October off at the moment, but I'm confident that won't be the case for long. The band has been talking about revamping the setlist, but I haven't heard when that will happen. I think it will probably be a gradual change instead of a complete makeover. Either way it should be a good time. Dirk Diggler hosted the last 2 open mic nights at LIttle Hoolies, and there aren't any other shows coming up at the moment. We're working on getting some more shows lined up, and I'm hoping that I'll have some news here soon. I think that we'll be hosting at least 1 open mic at Hoolies in October, but I'm not sure which Thursday yet. More details as I get them. LIke I think I've mentioned before, all 5 of us are all in other bands, so getting shows scheduled is tricky, because we have to line up all our other gig schedules for shows to happen, so it's not like we don't want to play, we just have to get all those calendars to line up! We all love playing together in DD, so know that we're trying to make shows happen! Had some time last weekend to go though some Voice Memos from my phone, and found a TON of song ideas that I had recorded. I was looking for one for the project with Mike and Rich, and I was shocked to find a whole bunch of other song ideas that I don't even remember recording! The really wild thing is that all the ideas I found were all really good! Most of them had basic arrangements, and the sections all sounded really solid. So, this week I'm going to start working on getting them recorded for the album project that I've been working on the last few months. The song that I was looking for will work well with the project with Mike and Rich, and I'm going to get that one up and running as well. Should make for a fun week. If October ends up being quiet on the gig front, I'm planning on spending as much time as I can working on my music. Several projects in the works, and I'm hoping to get at least a couple of them done before the end of the year...wish me luck! That is all...TB For the first time in a while it seems I didn't have a show this weekend, and it was probably a good thing. Apparently something I ate over the last few days didn't agree with me, and I was kind of worthless for a good part of the weekend. In fact, today has been the first day this weekend I've felt "normal." Never did figure out what did me in though... The only performance I had this last week was the usual gig at Little Hoolies, which went really well. There were some new faces (for me at least), and it was Junior, the lead guitarist for Eli Cash's birthday that night, so there was cake and good vibes all around. I'll be there again this week, and if you haven't been there yet, it's a really good vibe, and a lot of good musicians coming out and jamming as well. The next Eli Cash show is at Black Point on September 21, and I'm still waiting to hear when Dirk Diggler plays again. I'm more or less into a groove with the "day job," so I will be able to get back into the recording projects that I've been working on since the spring/summer. I've been working on lyrics for the solo songs I've been working on, and one of them I'm really happy with. I'm going to try to get that one done quickly and post it around my sites to see what people think of it. As I was going through the folder that I have the songs stored, I came across another song that I had forgotten about. I'm gonna use that as an incentive to work on a few more songs! Gonna spend tomorrow night going over the songs and lyrics/story that has been in the works with Mike and RIch from Inkognito. I didn't spend as much time with that project over the summer as I should have, so I feel that I have to do a little bit of catch up on that. There were some loose ends in the story that I'm still trying to tie up. Good thing we don't have a deadline for this thing! As far as the Conspiracy Inc. project with my friend Tom, I actually have a couple song ideas in various stages of completion, at least instrumentally. Once I'm happy with them, I'll be sending them off to Tom for his input and some lyrics. By the way Tom, congrats on your wedding! Hope the missus doesn't kill you! |
