Okay, told ya I'd let ya know when the show on the 29th was confirmed, and, well, it's not happening. Looks like I had the dates mixed up. I'll let you know when Dirk Diggler is playing again...So, this week it looks like I'll be at Little Hoolies open mic night on Thursday, and that's it as far as I know...

Well...finally on spring break...whooohoooo!! Didn't get off to as quick of a start as I would have liked. Got a text that I wouldn't be doing the show with 3RG on Saturday, but I still hope to maybe do some shows with them again in the future, we'll see how that goes. As far as I know, they did great, so that's always a good thing. Played as part of the host band at Little Hoolies on Thursday night, and that was a lot of fun. It's always a blast to jam there with different people and (sometimes) have to play songs you don't really know on the spot. I always joke saying that it's like being thrown to the wolves, but I really like that challenge. Got to play with former Force Three drummer Mike as well, and had a good conversation with him as well about the demise of that band. We were also complimented as to how tight we were/are as a rhythm section. Who knows, maybe we'll play together again someday. We'll see what the future holds... This week as far as performing, I will be at Little Hoolies on Thursday for the jam night, and Dirk Diggler is supposed to be playing a headlining show there on Friday as well. I should have final confirmation on that either today or tomorrow. If anything changes I'll post it here as well as on my other sites. There is also a rumor of another show with Matt Mansfield and Southern Drawl for April, but I don't have specifics just yet. The rest of the week I am planning on working on the group of songs I've been working on since around September. Most of them at least have a rough guitar part recorded with the basic arrangement of each song, and my goal for this week is to get drums, bass, and "proper" rhythm guitar parts done so that I can see what each song needs as far as overdubs, and oh yeah, work on lyrics for them. I have a few sets of lyrics that I think might work with some of the songs, but I like to have all the instrumental parts of songs more or less finalized before I work on the lyrics/vocals. Of course, if I get an idea that just "demands" to get finished first, I'll go with it. I've been writing songs for a long enough time to know that if you get an idea, it is a good idea to just run with it! I also will be spending some time on the project I'm collaborating on with Mike and Rich from Inkognito. I have to spend some time working through some of the lyrics that have been written to see how the songs are connecting together. Pretty sure I made mention of this before, but the project that we're working on is a "concept album" of sorts, and I have been pretty good about keeping the songs in some sort of narrative, but it's getting to the point where I really need to start connecting the dots and seeing what kind of "holes" there are in the story so that we know what we need to make this be as good as it could be. If I have time, (hahaha!) I will also be doing some work on a few other projects as well, and then working on them on a more regular basis leading up to summer. Once summer hits, I hope to be spending a lot of time not only playing but getting more new music done and letting people hear what I come up with. Looking forward to doing a ton of stuff this year! That is all...TB All righty then...
It's Spring Break time, and so far I'm surviving my busiest month of gigging in a long time! I'm getting ready to go and be part of the host band at tonight's open mic at Little Hoolies, and I'll be there next week to I think. I had a blast playing with Manic Heppi (NOW CALLED DIRK DIGGLER!) at Cafe 27 last week, as well as a fun time with 3RG at the Mutineer last Friday. I'm actually playing with 3RG again this Saturday at the Native Florida Tap Room and Music Hall on Saturday night, then Dirk Diggler will be tearing it up at Little Hoolies on the 29th. Wow, it's been a long time since I've had this many gigs! Feels good! My other big plan for this week is to spend as much time as I can doing some recording. I have a ton of songs in various stages of development, and I really want to get them done and ready to share with everyone. I'm also going to be getting some work done on the project with my old 'nito bandmates as well. Looking forward to being able to First part of my busy month has been going good. The Mainc Heppi band had our "debut" a few weeks ago at Little Hoolies, and This week we have our first "headline" show this Thuesday at Cafe 27. The show should be a lot of fun, I'm looking forward to it. We have some really cool ideas that we are going to start trying out, so make sure to come and see what we have up our sleeves. I'm also playing a show with 3RG on Friday night at the Mutineer, and again on the 23rd. I have to put the date up this week, so keep an eye out for that. It also looks like my Thursday night appearance at Little Hoolies will be more frequent as well. There was a change in the people that run the show (don't ask, I really don't know what happened), and it looks like I may be part of the "host band" on a weekly basis. More details on that as I get them, but that could be a lot of fun.
Yesterday, I had my "reunion" gig with Matt from Southern Drawl, and I have to say that I had a lot of fun. The band played really well, and the audience really liked us. It wasn't the "Rebelution" lineup, but that is something in the cards going forward. Matt seemed really into getting the band back up and running, and we all had a good time. Jim was on lead guitar, and Kelly from the Swamp Drive band was on drums. Dave wasn't at this gig, but hopefully be involved again soon. I'm going to stay involved at this point as much as I can between all my other craziness, as SD was a lot of fun. Outside of all the cover bands, I'm enjoying my "creative" time of year. For the "day job," I'm in the home stretch of a fairly large scale work for my band there. If all goes well, I may have it finished (not including editing) this week if I have a minimum amount of distractions this week, and I'm really excited to get this to the rehearsal stage, and then getting this onstage in May! Once I have this piece done and in rehearsal, I have another very cool large scale piece that I started in the fall that I'll be going back to, as well as another piece that has been in the works for a few years now. As far as my songwriting goes, I have about 15-16 songs in various stages of development, and when I hit spring break in a couple weeks, I hope to spend a day or 2 getting drums recorded, and then really get to working on turning these ideas into completed songs. I'm also working on songs for Deb Desilets and still working on the songs for the project with my old Inkognito bandmates as well. I also have to keep getting this site back to where it was last year. I have to say that I'm really happy with the new setup here so far. I also like the fact that I can update this a little easier. A big plus in my book! Well, time for me to get some sleep and get ready for a very busy week. That is all...TB |
