I was able to write and record a solo album (my 24th one going back to 1999), as well as write and record a new album for my old side band Conspiracy Incorporated. Okay, well it's mostly done as of today. My best friend and collaborator Tom has to write lyrics and send me vocals for 3 tracks, but other than editing in his vocals into the tracks, it's a finished project. I gave myself 3 weeks and pretty much was able to put it together in that timeframe, with a few days off here and there from working on it. I used a different DAW that I don't use a lot called Reason that was a lot of fun to work on. Very few guitars on this album, but managed to record some ukulele tracks on one song! No title for the Conspiracy Inc. album yet, I have a couple ideas but I'm going to wait to see what Tom comes up with to see if he has a cool phrase or song title that would work. Very proud of myself for getting a (mostly) entire album project written and recorded in a 3 week window, especially since the last time Tom and I did a C.I. album it took us 9 years to get it done!
...to the surprise of absolutely no one, there is no news on upcoming gigs at this point...
Spending the rest of the week doing some research. I think I've found the platform that I'm going to be using to get my catalog of music out into the world and for people to buy. I found a company while I was on Facebook the other night, and what it says it can do and the cost seem almost too good to be true, but I have to check it out a little more closely. If this service does what it says it does, I'll be able to get ALL the album projects I've done out without breaking the bank, which is a good thing!
As far as other projects coming up, I have a song from my Incognito bandmate Mike to work on. Our "reunion" album is still in the "pre-pre-pre-production" stage, but there has been some progress over this year, in spite of everything! Once I get my research done for getting stuff released, I'll be diving into finishing up the large scale composition that I've been chipping away at for the last few months. I'm writing it out by hand (TRUE old school, pencil and staff paper!) and then I'll be entering/editing it into Finale and hopefully putting a compilation of some of my more recent compositions and maybe a couple older ones together for another album project to release. One thing about that possible release is that I was speaking with a computer technician, and I may be able to finally access the old files of my Master's Thesis piece "Roadmaps" and with updated MIDI be able to put a recording of it together. It was only performed once in 1997, and the performance had some flaws to it, and because of that I've actually never heard it played properly. No fault of the performers, they did an awesome job, but there were "gremlins" that turned up in the performance that were out of my and the performer's control. I'll let you all know if I'm able to get the files!
Not sure where it will lead, but I'm also starting to compile bits of music for another album, maybe I'll try to do 3 album projects in one year...now THAT would be a thing!!
Stay safe,
THAT IS ALL...TB
