Been fairly quiet on the Triad front, we have a private party to play at this weekend, and that should be a good time. It's basically a wedding reception for the guy that hosted us for our first "full" show back in November. Looking forward to playing there, and making up for all the technical issues that we had at that first show! After that, our next show on our schedule is back at the Mutineer in May. Hopefully we'll have some more dates happen before that. In the meantime, I'm sure we'll continue rehearsing and tweaking the song list. Who knows, maybe we'll start working on some original songs too?
Been busy at the "day job," but it's the fun part of the year for me, as I've been composing new songs for the band there. I just finished the last of 5 songs that I have either written or revised for this spring's concert. I will be giving the band the last of the songs today, and I can't wait to get into teaching the kids the songs and getting them up and running on them. For whatever reason, this time of year (winter/spring) seems to be a good time for me to write, and I always end up with a lot of cool ideas to work with. I also have a lot of new songs that I'm going to start finishing up and recording in a couple weeks. I plan on taking advantage of Spring Break and the apparent lull in shows for both bands to get some stuff recorded. Like I said, I have a pretty nice little backlog of ideas that I have to start working on, so I'm looking forward to that.
A couple weeks ago was also fun in that I had the chance to fly up to my hometown in Illinois to celebrate my dad's 70th birthday. What a good time! I didn't get a chance to see anyone outside of family this trip, but I am going to try to head up there again this summer for a longer stay. I really miss going up there, seeing my oldest (and in several cases my dearest) friends always seem to get me grounded and I always come back energized to keep pursuing all aspects of my musical life/career: teacher, composer, songwriter, musician, performer.
Sometimes I complain about stuff, but when it really comes down to it, I have NOTHING to complain about...I may not be famous, but I'm having a damn good time!
That is all...TB
