Saturday night's Eli Cash show at Black Point was awesome! The chilly (for Florida) weather didn't keep people away, in fact, I think it was likely the biggest crowd we've had there! Not bad for not playing there in over 2 months! We had a replacement drummer with us, and he did a very good job I have to say. There were a couple "brain freezes" on a couple of songs, but overall the gig was great. Our next show will be this Sunday at the Mutineer on their patio. Another outdoor gig, but the weather is supposed to be real nice, and I've heard that the patio shows there are always fun shows, so I'm looking forward to doing it. I'm getting more comfortable with the new songs that we've added into the show, and I'm starting to make them my own. I'm hoping that I won't need my little "cheat sheet" for much longer. My "cheat sheet" is basically a list of the new songs with the chord changes written down next to them for the main sections of the songs. I've been keeping it on my amp so I can refer to them just in case. I usually don't like having one, but I've found it to be helpful here and there. January has been a fun and busy month, and I can't wait to see what the rest of the year will look like…
In Dirk Diggler land, we're just waiting for our upcoming shows at Cafe 27 next month. We should be playing a couple open mic nights at Little Hoolies next month for "warm up" shows, and we'll probably do a couple rehearsals to make sure that everything is as tight as we can make it. Really looking forward to getting back on that stage there! As far as other shows, I haven't heard of anything just yet, but I have a feeling that there will be a few things coming up here very soon.
So far, I've gotten some good feedback on the new songs that I put up over at my reverberation page last week. I'm working on the next batch of songs already. I have 10 songs in various stages of completion, 9 of them are just about done. They only need some extra keyboard and guitar parts, lyrics and vocals. There is one song that only has a guide track, so that one will probably take a little longer to get together. I'm hoping to get this group finished up in the next few weeks and post them as well. Then I have a few other things that are brewing that will keep me busy for the rest of the spring. As soon as I have some firm details about them, I'll let you know. I'm also going to try to get some more content put up on here as well...
