TRIAD:
We played a REALLY great show at the Mutineer on the 24th! We did a little tweaking to the setlist and it made the show "flow" a lot easier. Nice big audience, and just a great vibe all around. That place is seemingly becoming Triad's "home club" too! We'll be back there on August 22, and it should be an even better show than the last one! We're going to try to work some new materiel into the show by then as well, so stay tuned...
DIRK DIGGLER:
The quote from yesterday's SLAMMIN' show at Cafe 27: "When DD is on, we're unstoppable...when the torrential rains come though, we stop!" We had a killer show yesterday, only downside was about 4-5 songs into our last set, a torrential downpour hit Cafe 27...sideways rain and everything...needless to say we stopped and frantically began covering our gear! Thankfully, all our stuff survived, and everyone still had a great time. If you look on the "Upcoming Gigs" page, you'll see 2 new DD show dates for Cafe 27 listed...we're back on September 17 and October 17, with more shows and maybe more venues to be announced!
I'm waiting to hear about a possible gig subbing in with my friends in Limerock, and as I said in my last update I just uploaded 14 new "solo" songs to my www.reverbnation.com/timbirkett page. I also finished up a group of cool little Garageband experiments that I may use for something somewhere down the line.
My fam and I are in the process of moving...sold our place, renting an apartment for a few weeks while we try to get a house so needless to say my studio is packed up and offline for a while. In the studio's down time, I am going to go back to some "old school" writing (ya know, pencil and paper stuff) with some compositions that I've set aside for various reasons over the last few years. I figure if I can finish up some of them, once the studio is back up I can input them digitally and get some more new music out into the world. I made sure to bring my portfolios of my compositions with me to the temporary apartment (I'm really funny about where I keep them, refused to put them in storage) so I can go through them to pick a few projects to work on. One of them I know where it is, the other one I have to do some digging to find it. One is a pretty cool mixed ensemble piece, and the other one is the beginnings of an actual symphony. Yes, a symphony! I have to find the notebook where that one is, I have (if I remember right) the first movement pretty much mapped out. Don't ask why, but I suddenly feel like it's time to work on these two projects, so I'm not gonna question it, and see what happens.
Changes at the "day job" will make things interesting this year, and I think I'm going to need some healthy distractions to keep me sane perhaps...LOL
That is all...TB
