Just had a run of 3 shows in a row, haven't had a run like that in years, even before "the plague!" Friday night Reckless Kind was at Cagney's and that show was a lot of fun. Cagney's is becoming Reckless' Broward home at this point, and it's always a good crowd there. Saturday Electric Mayhem played our first show in a while over at Sandbar, and it was easily the best show so far that we've done. Things are clicking, and now we can focus on adding new songs, and tweaking the show from a "stagecraft" point of view. Sunday Reckless Kind was back in action over at Glades Club, but our drummer Buddy couldn't make the gig, so Kelly from Electric Mayhem sat in with us and did a good job on short notice. This ended up being a very busy June for me, which I was happy about. Nice to have a month like that!
The fill in gig with Soulicide was a blast! There were some familiar faces in the band, as Kenny from DD is now singing with them, and Scott from Reckless and Electric is also in that band. I had known Kent, Soulicide's drummer for a while now but this was the first time I'd ever played with him. He is a great drummer and it was easy to lock in and groove with him. Greg from DD was running sound, so that was fun too. There were a ton of people there that I haven't seen since before the pandemic, so that was awesome. Add in the fact that the band sounded great and there were no major mess-ups and all in all it was a great day. I've already been told that I'll probably be doing more fill in gigs with them when they need someone, in fact I've been told to not make any plans for July 25. Don't have all the details yet, but I'll post them when I have them.
This weekend, Scott, Kelly and I are doing a private party in Davie for some friends of Kelly's. We're doing a power trio thing, doing a lot of songs that are in the Reckless set as well as some other things. We're finalizing the set list for this thing and going to get together this week to rehearse so we're good to go for Saturday. Other than that I have a quiet weekend as far as gigs go for the long weekend. It may become a "side band" thing for us, and Kelly want to call the project "Zero to Sixty" apparently. We'll see how that goes...As far as July gigs go, the only shows I know about at this point is Reckess is at Sandbar on July 23, and I'm doing something with Soulicide on July 25. I'm betting some more shows will pop up here pretty soon as well, and I'll be posting them here as soon as I get the dates.
I'm still compiling bits and pieces for my next album projects (there is gonna be a new acoustic set coming now as well as the album project I mentioned last time) and writing for the Incognito project, and the classical piece. I'm going to be doing the final editing on the first movement of that this week when I'm not preparing for the Saturday show. Other than all that (!), I'll be doing my summer camp thing that I do, and waiting to hear when I can go back to doing in person private lessons like I was doing before at one of the stores down here. Never a dull moment...
THAT IS ALL...TB
