A Thursday night Dirk Diggler show at Cafe 27 as well as DD's return to Little Hoolies after nearly 3 (I thought it was 2!) and I'm beat! Both shows were fun, even though the lovely Florida weather tried to derail things. A nasty rainstorm went through where Cafe 27 is a couple hours before our show, which made for a late setup and start, but the audience were patient with us and we went on to have a pretty slamming show. Most of the audience stayed for the whole show, and pretty much everything we played went over good with them. On Saturday there was a CRAZY storm that went through Miami in the late afternoon/early evening that made for some wed and wild driving for some people. Thankfully, by the time I go to Little Hoolies to load in, the rains were pretty much over. We had a nice big crowd at Hoolies, and again there were a lot of people who stayed for the whole show. I had one mishap where my amp went down for a few minutes and my direct line to to the PA system went out, but we were able to get the problem fixed pretty quick, and the rest of the show went off without a hitch. I was able to talk to and take pictures with a lot of people there, and it was cool to hear so much positivity about what Dirk Diggler does in our shows. Thank you to everyone who said all those nice things, we'll do our best to live up to all the cool things y'all said! As far as I know, DD has the next 5 weeks off, and then we're back in action at Cafe 27 on September 18, and then our debut gig at Flossies on September 25. Hopefully, we'll have some show announcements between now and then!
No new news on the Triad front, but now I have a little bit of time to get on that...
As far as my studio project, I finished up the drum tracks last week and I start working on guitars and lyrics this week, I was hoping to have the project finished by the time the "day job" kicks back in, but I'm not quite sure I'll be able to get all 20 some songs completed in the 2 weeks that I have left in the summer. But then again...challenge accepted!
Found out something that I was waiting on with the "day job" that should free me up for looking for some more gigs as well as spending more time working in the studio than I usually do during the school year. On one hand it kinda sucks but I decided that I'm going to channel the energy that I would have used with the "day job" back into some of the short and long term projects and goals that I have for this end of my music life/career. In other words, I should have a lot more new music, shows, and other craziness to share with y'all over the next few months!
More news to follow,,,
Off to be productive...
That is all...
