The last couple Thursdays at Little Hoolies have been pretty good, and this weekend is going to be fairly quiet, as I don't have any gigs. Next weekend begins what looks to be a pretty busy month of February. If all goes according to plan, Triad will be playing 2 shows next weakend. We will for sure be at the Mutineer on Saturday the 7th, and we're supposed to play a private party on Sunday the 8th. (reminder Tim: set DVR for Walking Dead!!) The next week will see me at Little Hoolies as part of the open mic house band (the "every week" almost gig), and on the 14th I will be sitting in with Stalking Mildred at Little Hoolies, and then Sunday the 15th I will be back at Cafe 27 with Dirk Diggler as we celebrate Greg's birthday. That should be pretty fun!
Hoping to spend a little time recording tonight and tomorrow in-between Triad rehearsal. Went through a bunch of riff/song ideas that I had amassed on my phone, and found quite a few cool things to work on. A couple of them I'm going to submit to Triad to see about getting that band on the path of doing originals as well as covers. Ever since the Inkognito days, I've always wanted to be in a band again that did both covers and our own stuff. It adds variety, and as a songwriter, it's fun to write and record your stuff, and even more fun to perform your own material. Plus I think it would be cool to eventually do not only cover shows, but the occasional all original show might be fun as well.
This last Thursday was actually the 22nd anniversary of Inkognito releasing our only album "Abuse Your Delusion 1 1/2." So, in what has become a bit of a tradition, I pulled it out and listened to it all the way through. I'll tell you what, the music that Mike, Rich and I came up with still holds up! We've been working on some new material on and off for the last couple of years, and it would be cool if the stuff we're writing now holds up as well as what we did all those years ago...
Other than that, nothing much else to report on. Been pretty quiet out this way...here's to a busy and fun February!!
That is all...TB
