Had a couple really good Dirk Diggler gigs in the last few weeks. A Thursday night show in February and a really killer one this past Sunday. Both shows went well, but Sunday was one of those shows where everyone was "ON" for whatever reason. Another cool thing about the last 2 shows....MY NEW BASS FINALLY GOT HERE!! I was able to pick it up on the way up to the Thursday show last month, and it has literally become my new "Number One" bass. Plays like a dream, and the sound of this bass through the new rig is unbelievable. Hell, I just may save up some $ and get another one in a different color! LMAO!! The next DD show (that I know of at this point) is back at Cafe 27 on Thursday April 27. Hopefully some more shows will turn up soon, I know we're waiting for a date at Flossies, but I don't know when just yet.
I did have a "gremlin" return on me on the Sunday gig...Spent a hour or so the day before restringing and cleaning up the 12 string bass, haven't restrung it in I don't know how long, let alone cleaning it up. SO, it's all nice and pretty, sounding great, and right as I start the second song in our show that I use it on, the input jack goes bad...grr...Thankfully I know that will be an easy fix, but at the same time, you just have to laugh...probably would have been fine if I hadn't spent all that time on it...
Triad has a new drummer! Henry, who used to play in Stalking Mildred, is sitting behind the kit with us! We've already had a killer rehearsal, and we figure to hopefully be playing later this spring. Right now we're getting the rust off the old setlist, as well as planning some new adds to the set...gonna be some good stuff that's for sure!
On the composing side of things, I finally finished this year's batch of songs for the "day job" bands, and I'm really happy with the songs this year. Can't wait to hear the kids play them. Last week, I managed to catch a classical group, the Carpe Diem String Quartet. They were fantastic! Made me want to start writing some quartets again. Forgot how cool a sound a string quartet gets. Last time I wrote a quartet was "Spheres" in 2010, if I remember right. Time for another one!
Other than that, there are a couple other things in the works, but nothing concrete just yet. Need to give this site a little TLC here over the next few weeks, so keep an eye out for some new stuff here and there...
Cheers....
That is all...TB
