Had a pretty great birthday weekend so far, gig at Cafe 27 with Dirk Diggler on Thursday night, a quiet and relaxing day Friday, Motley Crue last night, and another relaxing day today, I can deal with that!
The show at Cafe 27 was really good, especially when you remember that DD hasn't done a show in a few months, and we basically went in there cold with no rehearsal beforehand. Was a pretty good sized audience, although the bikini contest wasn't there. We still had a great time though. I had one appearance of "gremlins" in the pedalboard during our first set, but I was able to get it sorted out before our second set. There was some sort of electrical issue with 3 pedals all of a sudden losing power and making my signal cut out. I changed where the pedal board was plugged in at, and also unplugged and replugged all the pedals to make sure that the connections were all good. I think that there must have been one cable just a little bit loose, and the PA vibrating the stage made the cables lose their connection. Like I said, once I did those 2 things, the problem was gone. It happened once before right when I put the pedalboard together a few weeks ago. If it does it more I'm going to take the pedalboard in to probably Guitar Center and have their tech troubleshoot and do what needs to be done to not have that happen again.
The new band Triad is sounding really great! We will be going to go do a set over at open mic at Little Hoolies either this week or next week to make our "official" debut. There are already a couple shows that are 99% confirmed, and I'll post them as soon as they are 100%. The covers that we're going to do are coming out really good, and I'm hoping to try to get the guys to try to start doing some writing so that we can have some original songs in the mix as well. I may also throw out the idea of seeing if between the 3 of us we have any "older" original songs laying around that they think we could work with. I have a few that I may try to bring into the band that I think would work.
On the Eli Cash front, there is no news.
With all the insanity that has been going on at the "day job," I am going to make a point to make sure that I am more productive with this aspect of my musical career as well. A lot of the time during the school year my writing/composing has taken a back seat to other things, but I have a little more time to get things done now, and I plan on taking advantage of that. I'm supposed to be doing some recording with Dave from Southern Drawl/Swamp Drive either this week or next week, and I'm going to do my best to make some progress on my other writing/composing projects that I have going on…
That is all…TB
