Wow, so much for taking the holidays off...Reckless Kind got a chance to play at Cagney's on New Year's Day, and it was a great night, and a nice way to kick off the new year. January 7 saw Louie and I doing a RK acoustic duo show at Glades Club (it wasn't the original plan, but we went over fantastic!), and then a full band show at Eddie's Place, and that show ended up being a potential Top 20 greatest RK show, crowd was awesome all night! Last week was supposed to be an "off" weekend with no shows and I was going to spend last Friday night finishing up the editing of the "Electric Symphony" piece when I got a call from Louie about 7pm. There was a cancellation at Cagney's, and the owner wanted to know if we could come and play a last minute gig. I told Louie I was in if the other guys were, and about 20 minutes later I was speeding up to Davie to play! That show was AWESOME. The crowd was amazing, singing and dancing almost the entire night! Got home around 4am and was feeling good, tired but good. Spent Saturday mostly recovering and relaxing.
Got a call Saturday night from Joel from Limerock. I was asked if I could fill in with them for a few shows over the next few months, and after checking my schedule I told him that I would be able to do that. SO, if you look at the gig calendar you'll see that I'm doing (at least 5 as of now) shows with Limerock, which will be a lot of fun. I've played with them many times over the years, and as some of you know my good buddy Dave, the original keyboard player in Dirk Diggler, is in Limerock, so I'm really looking forward to playing and hanging out with him at these gigs!
Electric Mayhem will be rehearsing with our new lineup this week at my garage/sweatshop, and I'm looking forward to seeing how the new lineup gels and how it will sound. The new lineup will be making it's debut at Sandbar on January 29 ("Delusion Day" for all the old school Incognito people!) and I'm excited to see how that goes. I think the first show will be a lot of the setlist that we've been using before, but I expect we'll start changing things up real soon after this show.
So, as you can imagine, my gig calendar is already filling up pretty nicely! Some shows that I'm looking forward to already is the first fill in gig with Limerock as that one is at Cafe 27, which I LOVE playing at, the Reckless Kind show this week (Jan. 21) at Sandbar, the Electric Mayhem show on the 29th, and in February Sandbar is doing a festival called "Sandbarpaloza," and I'll be doing double duty with Reckless AND Mayhem! If the first few months of 2022 is any indicator, this is gonna be a fun and BUSY year for gigs!
Hopefully, I'll have the "Electric Symphony" finished this week, and then I'll be getting some things in motion with my original music. I will start getting ideas together for my next solo project next month. In Incognito news, Rich gave us a BRILLIANT idea and if we go ahead with it we should have something epic going on. Can't say anything else, but if it happens it's gonna be awesome...
THAT IS ALL...TB
