A quick update on things around here...
It's been fairly quiet here for the last few weeks, but there has been a lot of good things happening here. My computer is pretty much back to normal, the repairs on it worked, and I now don't have to stress about upgrading before I'm ready, so that's a good thing. This last Sunday, I finished the album project that I started in March, and I'm super happy with it. I'm going to be doing the artwork and figuring out getting this one released. I have a sort-of plan, I just have to be up to finally committing to doing it. I'll also be posting it to my www.reverbnation.com/timbirkett site as well. I wasn't sure how this batch of songs would work with each other stylistically, but after listening to a CD of them for the last couple of days, I have to say I'm loving how this one came out. More details soon in this department...
On the gigging front, really isn't much to report. I did a "socially distanced" show with Reckless Kind, but I didn't feel 100% comfortable advertising it, so I'm just mentioning it now. That, and the band didn't have the greatest of shows, as there wasn't any rehearsal before the show. I will be doing some shows with a new band at some point, actually did a couple of (again) "socially distanced" rehearsals with them over the weekend. Nothing crazy, just a band I think to have some fun in. The lineup is basically Reckless Kind with a different singer and a keyboard player. Not sure at this point what will be the status of this band long term, so I'm taking it one day and one gig at a time.
No real news on the Dirk Diggler front, obviously at this point, as none of the places that we usually play at are hiring bands, and with everything going on it is not clear that all the places we play will be around by the time we can have shows again.

*My obligatory political message, back to the stuff that matters...*
Since there are no real gigs coming up in the near future, I have decided to really focus on doing the "studio rat" (see what I did PHS friends?) thing for the foreseeable future. I'm already planning my next album projects! Without going into a whole lot of detail (so I have wiggle room if plans change LOL) I'm going to be starting up another "solo" album project, finishing the large scale piece I've been working on, and I'm likely going to be reviving Conspiracy Incorporated for an album project of some kind. The last thing I did with C.I. was what was called a "debut box set," a 4 disc long monstrosity called "On The Side." There is a video for the namesake song on my youtube page, which I'll have the link for on the Links page.
I really am starting to feel that I have to use this time of no regular shows to really refocus on my music and what I want to accomplish outside of playing shows.
Enough sitting back and letting things kind of happen, or not go 100% in getting my stuff out. I have the time, so there are no excuses to not finally get the ball rolling properly.
Time to roll...
That is all...TB
