As some of you know, the "day job" I refer to is a teaching job, and this was the first week with students. Usually, I try to not have any shows the first week so that I'm not wiped out at work. WELL, that didn't happen this year... Tuesday, right as class got out, my phone started blowing up. Turns out that Dirk Diggler and Limerock were going to be swapping dates up at Cafe 27, and we were taking their date, which was this past Thursday, August 22, and they are going to be there on our original date of September 26. Their bass player was really sick, and by us swapping dates they don't lose the gig up there. So, we got to play an unexpected show this week. I had to have my gear with me as I didn't have time to go home and pick it up. I have to say, it was probably the best and most fun DD show so far. Since we had been playing at Little Hoolies the last 2 weeks before, we were pretty tight, and it showed Thursday night! At Cafe 27, they also do a bikini contest on Thursday nights, so it is a real party atmosphere and the audience was really rocking! The other thing that is good about playing there (other than the obvious!) is that bands play from 7-11, so I was able to get home at a reasonable hour and get enough sleep to be 100% at work on Friday! Since we took this spot, we won't be at Cafe 27 on September 26 now. We're working on getting some new show dates together, and as soon as I have them I'll post them here. I know that we will be hosting open mic at Little Hoolies again, and I should know when those are soon. I'll be there next week as part of the host band, so come out and say hi!
On the Eli Cash front, another great show at Black Point last Saturday! We had a great and loud crowd out there on the water. When I first got there I wasn't sure the gig was gonna happen as it started raining when I was loading in my gear, but the weather cleared and all was good. There are a few shows coming up that I can tell you about. We will be making a return to Black Point on September 21, and then we have 2 shows booked for November that I know of at this point. I'm pretty sure that there are more coming up, but these are the ones that I know about at this point.
I'm going to try to work on more lyrics for the album project that I've been working on for the last few weeks, and hopefully get a few more knocked out. There is also some work to be done on a couple other projects, but it's gonna be hard for me the next few weeks to work on them as I am still getting back into the routine of the work schedule.
That is all...TB
