I got all of the new classical-ish piece into the computer, and I'm in the process of doing all the final edits and getting it ready to post to my music site. Don't want to give away too much, but I have to say that the piece came out as good if not better than I expected, and the amount of edits and fixes that I have to do are surprising minimal. What I'm doing with it at this stage is finalizing the dynamics, phrasing markings (slurs, rolls, etc.) Which will take a little while to get everything to a point where I'm 100% happy with it. It's a 27 minute long monster that I'm really happy with at this point!
I have started recording new music, and by the end of the week I should have all the drum and bass parts for 6 of the 8 songs that will make up this new album project. I have 4 done already, and I'm planning on finishing up the last 2 tonight and tomorrow, with a goal of starting to do the final guitars, keys, etc. over the weekend. I have song titles but no lyrics just yet, but I decided I'll get the music part done first and do lyrics after, unless I get inspired before that. I also will be working on a few ideas for the Incognito project as well. Mike liked the idea of the duet song, so I've been redoing the demo of that song with space for him to put a vocal track on.
On the gigging front, the show at Micky's ended up going on after all, Louie (the singer) was able to find at the last minute a drummer that could not only fill in for that show, but for most of the upcoming shows in April as well. We did a quick rehearsal with the new guy (Buddy) the day of the Micky's show, and played with him doing an all Van Halen set a couple hours later. We also did a show with him at Quail Roost Tavern last week that went pretty good. Should be fun playing with him for the next few shows until Tony our regular drummer can start playing again. Electric Mayhem has a show coming up at the end of the month at Sandbar, and I'm expecting that band to get busier here very soon. No new acoustic shows coming up so far, but I'm keeping an eye out for chances to play.
I also finally have some Dirk Diggler news...
After 7 years, and over 100 shows, I was told that Dirk Diggler is officially broken up. No big drama, the guy in charge just wants to focus on other things, and feels like he doesn't have the time to devote to DD and his other projects. I kind of expected that this was going to be the outcome for a couple weeks. I'm not gonna lie, I was bummed when I got the news, but I wasn't surprised. I want to thank Jaime, Heppi, Kenny, our old keyboard player Dave, old guitarists Scott and Tony, and Greg for a fun, wild ride. Please support all of these guys in their projects, I will be. Hopefully everyone has some good memories from being at a Diggler show, I know I have a bunch...from playing our first show at a packed Little Hoolies, to women mud wrestling in between breaks at Cafe 27, the "Diggler choir" at shows, Gail and Steve being our "floor show" with their crazy dancing, the incredible show at Sport Of Kings, and a ton of other fun moments big and small. Let's see what the future holds...
For now,
THAT IS ALL...TB
